"Dans une Maison au Calme," which means "In a Quiet House," is a piece for solo piano that employs a loose ternary structure with both standard functional and freely-led harmonies to create the emotional impression of a home in which the only sounds heard are those in the memory of a solitary narrator. The narrator, providing a sparse interlude before and between each of the three episodes, is an embodiment of those who have been separated from their families as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and find that their homes are all the quieter as a result.
